Fatal Brain Tumors on the Rise in England
Rate of GBM More than Doubled Between 1995 and 2015

    Excerpt

The incidence of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the deadliest type of brain tumor, more than doubled in England between 1995 and 2015, according to a new analysis of national statistics. During that time, the number of cases of GBM rose from 983 to 2,531.

“We found a sustained and highly significant increase in GBM throughout the 21 years and across all ages,” said Alasdair Philips, the lead author of the study, which has just been released online by the peer-reviewed, open access, Journal of Environmental and Public Health.

“The incidence rate of GBM, the most aggressive and quickly fatal brain tumor, is rising dramatically in England while the rates for lower grade tumors have decreased, masking this dramatic trend in the overall data,” Philips told us from his home in southern Scotland…SNIP

Leszczynski: Brief Opinion on the NTP Rat Study – “The more you know, the more you know you don’t know.”

    Excerpt:

Publication of the full results of the NTP study, yet again, re-confirms what Aristotle said “The more you know, the more you know you don’t know”. No matter how disappointed some might be, this is the reality of the scientific research.

The study is a classic toxicology. Namely: rats were long-term exposed to various doses of cell phone radiation and their health was followed over the long period of time.

NTP study demonstrates that exposures to cell phone radiation cause biological and health effects in animals. This confirms that the biological and health effects in humans are possible. SNIP

Microwave News: Italian RF Study “Reinforces” U.S. NTP Finding

    From Louis Slesin, Microwave News

    Excerpt:
Ramazzini’s Belpoggi Calls for IARC To Reassess RF Cancer Risk

Partial results of the Ramazzini Institute’s RF–animal study, which show a statistically significant increase in tumors in the hearts of male rats exposed to GSM radiation, were officially released today. They appear in Environmental Research, a peer-reviewed journal. As we reported last month, the Ramazzini finding of Schwann cell tumors —called schwannomas— in the rat hearts is consistent with a similar finding by the U.S. National Toxicology Program (NTP) in a $25 million RF project. “More Than a Coincidence” Major New Animal Study, Like NTP’s, Links RF to Schwannomas

    Excerpt from Microwave News:

    “More Than a Coincidence”
Major New Animal Study, Like NTP’s, Links RF to Schwannomas
    It’s happened again.

A second large study has found tumors in the Schwann cells —schwannomas— in the hearts of male rats exposed to cell phone radiation. The new finding comes from the Ramazzini Institute in Bologna, Italy. The malignant schwannomas of the heart seen in the Italian study are the same as those described by the U.S. National Toxicology Program (NTP) earlier this month as the basis for their concern that cell phone radiation can lead to cancer. The Ramazzini paper is expected to be published within a week. SNIP

    What Changed at NTP?

    From Louis Slesin, Microwave News:
    What Changed at NTP?
Same RF Cancer Data, Different Outlook
    February 7, 2018
    Excerpt:

Why was the NTP so ambivalent about its cell phone cancer findings at the press conference last Friday when two years ago the same scientific evidence prompted a public health warning?

Some of the pathology numbers got tweaked since they were first released in 2016, but the changes were minor. It’s the same data set —but with a very different interpretation. The NTP mindset somehow shifted from we need to release this important new health data now to this is “not a high-risk situation.”

Who or what moved the NTP managers to change their outlook? There’s no shortage of suspects and suspicions. Here are a few making the rounds: SNIP

Disinformation and the NTP study findings

The Disinformation Playbook has been used for decades by corporations to delay government action on matters of great public interest that would adversely affect their income and profit. Some of the well-known examples involve the sugar industry, tobacco, oil and gas, and the National Football League. The Union of Concerned Scientists outlined the five pillars of the Playbook

    1. The Fake: Conduct counterfeit science and try to pass it off as legitimate research
    2. The Blitz: Harass scientists who speak out with results or views inconvenient for industry
    3. The Diversion: Manufacture uncertainty about science where little or none exists
    4. The Screen: Buy credibility through alliances with academia or professional societies
    5. The Fix: Manipulate government officials or processes to inappropriately influence policy

Now consider whether or not this is relevant for the headline reporting on the NTP study in MEDPAGE TODAY… And the comment following

    NTP Study – Darius Leszczynski’s first impressions…

    Excerpt
From the blog; Between a Rock and a Hard Place

    Excerpt

Today, the US NTP published results of its animal study examining effects of RF-EMF on mice and rats. Both reports are quite long to read and I had no time for detailed evaluation yet. However, in my opinion, NTP study demonstrates that exposures to cell phone radiation cause biological and health effects in animals. This confirms that biological and health effects in humans are possible.

The most significant finding, in my opinion, is the development of gliomas in exposed animals. SNIP…

Prolonged phone usage linked to depression among youngsters, Study finds

    From George P

    January 23, 2018

From News Medical, an online, open-access medical information provider for healthcare professionals, medical researchers and engaged consumers.

New research conducted at San Diego State University has shown the relationship between adolescent life satisfaction and screen time.

    Excerpt:

The study, published in the journal Emotion, found that Teenagers who are constantly glued to their smartphones are significantly less happy.

In order to explore this association, investigators analyzed data from the Monitoring the Future (MtF) longitudinal study—a nationwide representative survey comprising millions of U.S. 8th-, 10th-, and 12th-graders.

In this survey, the students were asked to answer a questionnaire about the total time spent on their mobiles, computers, and tablets, as well as their direct social interactions and their happiness in general.

On average, it was found that teenagers who spent an excessive amount of time on screen devices (using social media, playing computer games, video chatting, and messaging) exhibited lower levels of happiness than teenagers who spent more time engaging in non-screen activities such as reading magazines and newspapers, sports, and direct social interactions. Please find the latest data from Swedish Cancer Registry on the link here http://www.stralskyddsstiftelsen.se/2018/01/cancers-in-the-head-and-neck-are-increasing-in-sweden/

Cancers in the head and the neck are increasing in Sweden according to the latest cancer incidence data from the Swedish Cancer Registry. Cancers in the thyroid and the mouth are among the cancers that have seen the sharpest rise during the last decade but also the trend for cancers of the pituitary are on the rise. Among men aged 50 -79 years malignant brain tumours, grade 3-4 are also increasing visibly. The increase of these cancers has coincided with increasing use of mobile phones during the same time period while the increasing trend of malignant brain tumours, gliomas, might be an effect of long term use of mobile phones.

NTP Cancer Study Now Due Early 2018 (Microwave News)

From Louis Slesin, August 30, 2017

    Excerpt

The National Toxicology Program (NTP) will release the “complete results” of its $25 million project on cell phone cancer risks early next year, according to a statement posted on its Web site yesterday.

“The complete results from all the rats and mice studies will be available for peer review and public comment by early 2018,” the NTP states. The animals were exposed to GSM or CDMA radiation for two years before they were sacrificed and evaluated for signs of cancer.

The NTP report had been expected by the end of this year.

The final report has been highly anticipated since the spring of last year when the NTP announced that cell phone radiation increased the incidence of tumors in the brain and heart of male rats. At the time, the NTP posted some partial results from the rat experiments. No details of the mice studies have yet been made public. The early release followed a story on the findings in Microwave News… SNIP

Cancer Expert Declares Cell Phone and Wireless Radiation as Carcinogenic to Humans

Longtime World Health Organization advisor Anthony B. Miller M.D. updates opinion linking wireless exposures to cancer based on new scientific evidence.

Teton Village, WY — (SBWIRE) — 08/16/2017 — An expert cancer researcher and advisor to the World Health Organization International Agency for Research on Cancer (WHO/IARC) has issued his scientific opinion that radiofrequency (RF) radiation from any source – such as the signals emitted by cell phones, other wireless and cordless and sensor devices, and wireless networks – fully meets criteria to be classified as a “Group 1 carcinogenic to humans” agent, based on scientific evidence associating RF exposure to cancer development and cancer promotion.

“The evidence indicating wireless is carcinogenic has increased and can no longer be ignored,” stated Dr. Anthony B. Miller at a July 31, 2017 lecture in Jackson Hole, Wyoming sponsored by the Environmental Health Trust where international experts presented the best available science on cell phone and wireless radiation…SNIP

Data Indicates Cell Phones Expose Consumers To Radiation Levels Higher Than Manufacturers Claim

(Washington, DC) Under court order, the National Frequency Agency (ANFR) of France has just disclosed that most cell phones exceed government radiation limits when tested the way they are used, next to the body. Manufacturers are not required to test phones in shirt or pants pockets. French government tests on hundreds of cell phones reveal that in 2015, 9 out of 10 phones exceed the manufacturer’s reported radiation test levels when re-tested in positions where the phone is in contact with the body. The government had refused to disclose these test results until the court order. SNIP

As Commonly Used, Cell Phones Exceed Canada’s Radiation Exposure Limits – CBC Investigation
Canadians Await Government Action As Cancer Connections Strengthen

    March 31, 2017

    For Immediate Release

Ottawa – A CBC investigation revealed that cell phones exceed maximum permitted exposures during normal use, and expose Canadians to three to four times more radiofrequency energy than measured during testing per regulations. Since 81% of Canadians are unaware of fine print warnings in the phone or manual, they naturally hold cell phones against ears and carry phones in pockets. Few people distance wireless devices from the body by at least 5 to 20 mm for phones and 20+ cm for tablets.

In response to CBC, the federal government alleges that phones are still “safe” when exposure standards are exceeded….SNIP
