    An American Presidential Psychosis

    On the eve of the most bizarre American presidential election ever, it is interesting to remember the words of the American columnist H. L. Mencken who essentially predicted in 1920 the rise of a Donald Trump when he wrote the following words:

    As democracy is perfected, the office of the president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart”™s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.
