From Professor Ivan Beale on the RMIT Final report:
Hi Don,
I found the report difficult to follow in many places. I couldn’t see how the ‘expected rates’ were arrived at for brain cancers. Also, the assessments of field exposures are messy and not comprehensive. In my opinion, the lack of a significant association between tumour case occupancy and ELF exposure is incorrectly interpreted, since different tumours (or even the same tumours) may have different causes. I don’t believe the data in the report necessarily support the conclusions.
Best,
Ivan Beale
