    The Internet of Me

In Australia there is a controversy over the government’s plans to create an electronic health record, called My Health Record, for every Australian where their personal patient details will be stored on a national database that doctors around the country can see. The controversy is over who else might be also to gain access to this data.

Now lets take that one step further to imagine a 5G enabled Internet of Me (IoM) world: A brave new world where your body data, your life signals, wellness and health are all captured by body worn wi-fi devices designed to capture and communicate this data to an all-seeing “cloud”- and this can even include health data on your pet Moggy as well!

It would make sense in such a world that health providers would encourage their clients to wear these devices if they want affordable health insurance – or any at all. Consider the implications of the coming Internet of Me….

The Wifi Alliance, Coming Soon to Your Neighborhood: 5G Wireless

    From Global Research

    By Renee Parsons
    Global Research, July 06, 2018

    Excerpts:

Just as any new technology claims to offer the most advanced development; that their definition of progress will cure society’s ills or make life easier by eliminating the drudgery of antiquated appliances, the Wifi Alliance was organized as a worldwide wireless network to connect ‘everyone and everything, everywhere” as it promised “improvements to nearly every aspect of daily life.”

The Alliance, which makes no pretense of potential health or environmental concerns, further proclaimed (and they may be correct) that there are “more wifi devices than people on earth”. It is that inescapable exposure to ubiquitous wireless technologies wherein lies the problem. ..SNIP

Impact of EMF limits on 5G network roll-out

ITU Workshop on 5G, EMF & Health Warsaw, December 5 2017

Christer Törnevik, Senior Expert, EMF and Health Ericsson Research, Stockholm

This presentation by a representative for Ericsson, Sweden is well worth to consider in detail.

Especially the pictures at pages 8 and 9 are very illustrative of the distribution of radiofrequency radiation. Note these pictures are protected by Copyright.

They show boundaries for compliance with radiofrequency EMF limits. That means that the implementation of 5G will be much more difficult in countries with lower guidelines than those provided by ICNIRP….This technology will increase the exposure to radiofrequency radiation in the environment and should be banned until proper evaluation of exposure and consequences for human health and environment is investigated, see www.5gappeal.eu.

No doubt this presentation by Ericsson show that 5G will increase exposure, proper scientific evaluation has not been done and re-enforces the need for a moratorium as demanded in the 5G Appeal.

Chinese Telcos with ties to the Chinese government now aiming to roll out 5G in Australia

As reported by the Financial Review, two Chinese telecommunications companies ZTE and, Huawei, with ties to the Chinese government are now tendering to roll out Telstra’s 5G network in Australia, among other things. Considering that 5G is supposed to be the future communications hub will allow the Internet of Things, and a future Australian autonomous vehicle network, etc., is it wise to risk giving the Chinese government a “back door” to controlling all this? China’s aggressive moves in the South China Sea should be sufficient to ban these companies altogether from having any role in building Australia’s infrastructure… but then it seems in Australia the Renminbi rules the day. Excerpt:
Natalie Rahhal, Daily Mail, May 29, 2018

The roll out of 5G wireless service is ‘a massive health experiment,’ public health expert warns as cell companies install 800,000 towers across the US
The latest generation of wireless service – 5G – is being rolled out across select cities in the US
Networks will transmit data 100 times faster using shorter radiation waves
The new network will require 800,000 new ‘small cell’ towers
Some research has suggested that cell phone radiation may be carcinogenic
The new millimeter waves used in 5G have hardly been studied and introducing them constitutes an ‘experiment,’ warns a public health professor

Wireless carriers are constructing cell towers a stronger, faster 5G network, but some experts warn that the updated service’s health effects are unknown and potentially dangerous… SNIP

Electromagnetic radiation from power lines and phone masts (including 5G) poses ‘credible’ threat to wildlife, report finds

    The Telegraph

    By Sarah Knapton, Science Editor

    Excerpt:

18 May 2018 • 12:01am Electromagnetic radiation from power lines, wi-fi, phone masts and broadcast transmitters poses a ‘credible’ threat to wildlife, a new report suggests, as environmentalists warned the 5G roll out could cause greater harm. An analysis of 97 studies by the EU-funded review body EKLIPSE concluded that radiation is a potential risk to insect and bird orientation and plant health. However the charity Buglife warned that despite good evidence of the harms there was little research ongoing to assess the impact, or apply pollution limits. The charity said ‘serious impacts on the environment could not be ruled out’ and called for 5G transmitters to be placed away from street lights, which attract insects, or areas where they could harm wildlife. Matt Shardlow, CEO of Buglife said: “We apply limits to all types of pollution to protect the habitability of our environment, but as yet, even in Europe, the safe limits of electromagnetic radiation have not been determined, let alone applied. “There is a credible risk that 5G could impact significantly on wildlife, and that placing transmitters on LED street lamps, which attract nocturnal insects such as moths increases exposure and thereby risk. “Therefore we call for all 5G pilots to include detailed studies of their influence and impacts on wildlife, and for the results of those studies to be made public.” SNIP

Emerging possibility for a meticulous, impartial review of the EMF science at the WHO

    From Dariusz Leszczynski

    Excerpt:

Over the recent years, there were numerous complaints about the reliance of the WHO EMF Project solely on the opinions of the ICNIRP. In fact, the WHO EMF Project could be considered as “front” for the opinions of ICNIRP.

It seems the World Health Organization has taken a notice of the complaints and took some action.

WHO EMF Project is preparing a very important document – the Environmental Health Criteria for the RF-EMF (EHC RF-EMF). This document will evaluate all scientific evidence concerning biological and health effects of RF-EMF emitted by all types of the wireless communication devices, including cell phones, cell towers and wi-fi routers… SNIP

    Industry Lies

Wireless industry claims there is no increase in brain tumors so there is no problem with cell phones. But it is a big lie. For example, a very famous politician John McCain just got a brain tumor. You can see a big scar on the left side of his head, just where he usually holds his mobile phone.

So the government lies and claims there is no increase in cancer, tumors caused by mobile phones. The reality is there is a significant increase in Glioblastomas which are very deadly.

For the overall head, there has not been an increase in brain tumors since 2006 when the wireless was introduced. But in the three areas of the brain that get the most cell phone radiation which is your frontal lobe, temporal lobe in your cerebellum increase is significant which shows the study that was done by USC that was done 15 years before 2006…SNIP

The Nation: How Big Wireless Made Us Think That Cell Phones Are Safe: A Special Investigation

Excerpt: No scientist can say with certainty how many wireless-technology users are likely to contract cancer, but that is precisely the point: We simply don’t know. Nevertheless, we are proceeding as if we do know the risk, and that the risk is vanishingly small. Meanwhile, more and more people around the world, including countless children and adolescents, are getting addicted to cell phones every day, and the shift to radiation-heavy 5G technology is regarded as a fait accompli. Which is just how Big Wireless likes it. A must read!

The Wireless Cloud is an “energy monster” warming the world

Following on from the previous message “How smartphones are heating up the planet” here is an old analysis from 2013 that also examines the energy usage of wireless technology. Their analysis apparently did not include an estimation of the additional future contribution of 5G, the Internet of Things and possibly the roll-out of smart meters. As such, it is a very conservative estimation. All heating up the planet to what end? Titled The Power of Wireless Cloud, it was prepared and published by The Centre for Energy-Efficient Telecommunications (CEET): Alcatel-Lucent, Bell Labs and University of Melbourne.
Quote: The problem is that we’re all accessing cloud services – things like webmail, social networking and virtual applications – over wireless networks. It’s the modern way, but wireless is an energy monster; it’s just inherently inefficient.

New Zealand Ministry wrong to think three 5G networks would be better

    By RICHARD MACMANUS

    Last updated 05:00, March 26 2018

    Excerpt:

OPINION The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment last week released a discussion document for 5G, the next generation cellular mobile technology.

Among the issues raised in the document is how 5G will be rolled out in New Zealand and what the societal impacts will be. In particular, there are health concerns about the increased number of cell towers – estimated to be double the current number – that will be required for a 5G network.

We saw a glimpse of what 5G hopes to deliver last week, when the first “live trial” was conducted by Spark.

Communications Minister Clare Curran was the first to test it. She got a download speed of 9.3 gigabits per second, which equates to 9300 megabits per second. That’s 46 times the maximum speed I can get on my current ultrafast broadband package at home, which clocks in at a measly 200 megabits per second.

What’s more, 5G could end up being twice as fast as the speed Curran got. The specifications for 5G technology, which are still being worked on internationally, aim to reach a peak data rate of 20Gbps. That would be a 20 times increase from the current 4G generation.

As well as being super fast, 5G will have much lower latency – which means no delays or freezes when streaming high bandwidth media like videos and games.

5G is being marketed as the required infrastructure for next-generation technology. The MBIE paper highlights “self-driving cars, increased use of robotics and industry automation, and massive machine type communications (the internet of things).”

But hold your horses; this 5G future won’t arrive in New Zealand until at least 2020. Plus, there are a couple of contentious issues that must be addressed before 5G is approved….SNIP

5G and IoT: a Trojan horse

From André Fauteux, Editor/Publisher, La Maison du 21e siècle Magazine: The wireless industry dreams of deploying its new 5G (fifth generation) infrastructure in your neighbourhood soon, as it has begun doing in California. Boxes the size of a PC could be placed every 150 meters or so on utility poles, sometimes with small-refrigerator-sized boxes on the ground. 5G technology uses pulsed, millimeter-sized microwaves that are easily blocked by obstacles such as leaves, hence the need to install millions of cell signal boosters near homes.

The telecoms say this is the most efficient way to ease the digital congestion caused by audio-video streaming, whose global traffic, according to American giant Cisco, will be eleven times higher in 2018 than in 2014. Data would move through fibre optic cables, but rather than bringing these cables to your home, the last leg of the data’s journey would generally be wireless… As markets work, personal mobile phone subscriptions are more profitable than the higher speed fibre optic connections linked to desktops through your own router.

The 5G network would also support the huge increase in wireless communications to be created by the Internet of Things (IoT). Since most people already own a cell phone, industry wants to expand its market by embedding a cellular microchip into most manufactured goods. Therefore, items purchased in the future would generate data to be collected by companies and, ultimately, by governments. 5G-IoT is promoted by the promise of “smart” cities, leading to a more comfortable, convenient and efficient life. But besides a relentless expansion of sales, 5G-IoT will strengthen mobile phones as a platform for publicity and population control. Further, 5G-IoT deployment carries significant health risks… SNIP

New paper on 5G: Towards 5G communication systems: Are there health implications?

    Abstract

The spread of radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) is rising and health effects are still under investigation. RF-EMF promote oxidative stress, a condition involved in cancer onset, in several acute and chronic diseases and in vascular homeostasis. Although some evidences are still controversial, the WHO IARC classified RF-EMF as “possible carcinogenic to humans”, and more recent studies suggested reproductive, metabolic and neurologic effects of RF-EMF, which are also able to alter bacterial antibiotic resistance. In this evolving scenario, although the biological effects of 5G communication systems are very scarcely investigated, an international action plan for the development of 5G networks has started, with a forthcoming increment in devices and density of small cells, and with the future use of millimeter waves (MMW). Preliminary observations showed that MMW increase skin temperature, alter gene expression, promote cellular proliferation and synthesis of proteins linked with oxidative stress, inflammatory and metabolic processes, could generate ocular damages, affect neuro-muscular dynamics…SNIP

Optus to launch ‘faster’ 5G option to rival the NBN / Concerns over 5G at the Winter Olympics

It may come as a surprise to many Australians to find that Australia’s Optus is actually a 100% owned subsidiary of Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) since 2001. SingTel Optus is the first telco to announce an Australian 5G rollout in early 2019, to compete with the National Broadband Network (NBN). Optus will launch a fixed wireless option, accessible in metropolitan areas, expected to achieve internet speeds about 15 times faster than 4.5G. Not to be outdone in the coming mad race to install hundreds of thousands of 5G antennas across the Australian landscape, Telstra will also be offering 5G services in 2019, with Vodafone carrying out trials and claiming that 5G would support speeds equivalent to downloading an entire season of Game of Thrones in high definition in just 10 seconds.

.. In a perfect world, wouldn’t it would be nice if, before this rollout begins in Australia, a careful independent medical analysis is undertaken to determine if there are health hazards with 5G at the coming Olympics in Korea, where Korea Telecom, Intel and Ericsson are rushing to launch one of the world’s first large-scale experiments with 5G. Unfortunately “experiments” solely means how well the technology works, not on its possible impact of human health. Perhaps the folks at ACEBR should be sent over to check it all out. That way we will reliably be assured that 5G is perfectly safe – if you understand what I mean…… Don

5G: Introducing Brillouin Precursors: Microwave Radiation Runs Deep (Microwave News)

    From Microwave News, March/April 2002

    Excerpt:

When a very fast pulse of radiation enters the human body, it generates a burst of energy that can travel much deeper than predicted by conventional models. This induced radiation pulse, known as a Brillouin precursor, is at the heart of the continuing conflict over the U.S. Air Force’s (USAF) PAVE PAWS phased array radar on Cape Cod. Brillouin precursors can also be formed by ultrawideband radiation (see also p.17) and, in the near future, by high-speed data signals. Dr. Richard Albanese, a researcher at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, is concerned that the radiation from the PAVE PAWS radar entails wide-spread human exposure to Brillouin precursors. In a May 23, 2000, letter to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH), Albanese warned that this type of phased array radiation has never been tested. He has been working on Brillouin precursors for over 15 years…SNIP

    5G and phased arrays

    From Arthur Firstenberg

5G – FROM BLANKETS TO BULLETS

    Excerpt

    by Arthur Firstenberg

    January 22, 2018

The single most important fact about 5G that nobody is talking about is called “phased array.” It will totally change the way cell towers and cell phones are constructed and will transform the blanket of radiation which has enveloped our world for two decades into a million powerful beams whizzing by us at all times. Blake Levitt, author of Electromagnetic Fields: A Consumer’s Guide to the Issues and How to Protect Ourselves (Harcourt Brace, 1995), brought this to my attention. A mutual friend, with whom I was speaking during the campaign to defeat S.B. 649 in California, passed on a message from Blake: “5G antennas will be phased arrays; Arthur will know what that means.” And I did.
