New paper: RF exposure as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease

With our ever increasing exposure to RF from new technology the authors of this paper raise a vital question. Is RF exposure an environmental risk factor for cardiovascular disease? Hopefully this paper will encourage research on the possibility – as we rush down the road to 5G and the Internet of Things with health considerations based solely on thermal effects.

Update to: Mobile firms face lawsuits by PAUL KENDALL, Daily Mail

I got taken in by this article, even though it is currently doing the rounds it is actually a 17 year old rehashed article and nothing has apparently this lawsuit never progressed.

    See Microwave News from Nov/Dec 2000: http://microwavenews.com/sites/default/files/sites/default/files/backissues/n-d00issue.pdf

    And from March/April 2002: http://microwavenews.com/sites/default/files/sites/default/files/backissues/m-a02issue.pdf

I will therefore delete that previous message on the lawsuit. Call it Fake News!

NTP Cancer Study Now Due Early 2018 (Microwave News)

From Louis Slesin, August 30, 2017

    Excerpt

The National Toxicology Program (NTP) will release the “complete results” of its $25 million project on cell phone cancer risks early next year, according to a statement posted on its Web site yesterday.

“The complete results from all the rats and mice studies will be available for peer review and public comment by early 2018,” the NTP states. The animals were exposed to GSM or CDMA radiation for two years before they were sacrificed and evaluated for signs of cancer.

The NTP report had been expected by the end of this year.

The final report has been highly anticipated since the spring of last year when the NTP announced that cell phone radiation increased the incidence of tumors in the brain and heart of male rats. At the time, the NTP posted some partial results from the rat experiments. No details of the mice studies have yet been made public. The early release followed a story on the findings in Microwave News… SNIP

Cancer Expert Declares Cell Phone and Wireless Radiation as Carcinogenic to Humans

Longtime World Health Organization advisor Anthony B. Miller M.D. updates opinion linking wireless exposures to cancer based on new scientific evidence.

Teton Village, WY — (SBWIRE) — 08/16/2017 — An expert cancer researcher and advisor to the World Health Organization International Agency for Research on Cancer (WHO/IARC) has issued his scientific opinion that radiofrequency (RF) radiation from any source – such as the signals emitted by cell phones, other wireless and cordless and sensor devices, and wireless networks – fully meets criteria to be classified as a “Group 1 carcinogenic to humans” agent, based on scientific evidence associating RF exposure to cancer development and cancer promotion.

“The evidence indicating wireless is carcinogenic has increased and can no longer be ignored,” stated Dr. Anthony B. Miller at a July 31, 2017 lecture in Jackson Hole, Wyoming sponsored by the Environmental Health Trust where international experts presented the best available science on cell phone and wireless radiation…SNIP

Data Indicates Cell Phones Expose Consumers To Radiation Levels Higher Than Manufacturers Claim

(Washington, DC) Under court order, the National Frequency Agency (ANFR) of France has just disclosed that most cell phones exceed government radiation limits when tested the way they are used, next to the body. Manufacturers are not required to test phones in shirt or pants pockets. French government tests on hundreds of cell phones reveal that in 2015, 9 out of 10 phones exceed the manufacturer’s reported radiation test levels when re-tested in positions where the phone is in contact with the body. The government had refused to disclose these test results until the court order. SNIP

Cell Phones Exceed Canada’s Radiation Exposure Limits – CBC Investigation

    Excerpt

As Commonly Used, Cell Phones Exceed Canada’s Radiation Exposure Limits – CBC Investigation
Canadians Await Government Action As Cancer Connections Strengthen

    March 31, 2017

    For Immediate Release

Ottawa – A CBC investigation revealed that cell phones exceed maximum permitted exposures during normal use, and expose Canadians to three to four times more radiofrequency energy than measured during testing per regulations. Since 81% of Canadians are unaware of fine print warnings in the phone or manual, they naturally hold cell phones against ears and carry phones in pockets. Few people distance wireless devices from the body by at least 5 to 20 mm for phones and 20+ cm for tablets.

In response to CBC, the federal government alleges that phones are still “safe” when exposure standards are exceeded….SNIP

Important reading: Peer Review in the Raw (Microwave News)

    From Louis Slesin, Microwave News

This story was 20 years in the making.

If you want to know what it has been like to do research on the potential health effects of cell phone radiation, please read this story. I hope it will change the way you think about the peer review process and the power of entrenched interests to manipulate what gets published in the scientific literature –and, ultimately, shape public opinion.

This story should also help you understand how EMF/EMR research has come to be falsely portrayed as junk science. SNIP

Italian court rules mobile phone use caused brain tumour

    The Guardian
    Excerpt
An Italian court has ruled that excessive, work-related use of a mobile phone caused an executive to develop a benign brain tumour.

In what could become a landmark ruling, the court in the northern town of Ivrea awarded the plaintiff a state-funded pension.

The judgment, which was handed own on 11 April but only made public on Thursday, is subject to a possible appeal.

Roberto Romeo, 57, had testified that his work duties obliged him to use his mobile for three to four hours of each working day for 15 years. SNIP

Cellphones, wifi and cancer: Will Trump’s budget cuts zap vital ‘electrosmog’ research?

From Paul Mobbs writing in The Ecologist

    27th March 2017

    Excerpt

Just as long term research into the health impacts of the ‘electrosmog’ created by wifi and mobile phones is yielding its first results, it’s at risk of sudden termination from President Trump’s budget cuts, writes Paul Mobbs. But the cuts have little to do with saving money – and a lot to do with protecting corporate profit and economic growth from harsh truths, including evidence that electrosmog causes cancer in laboratory rats, and maybe humans too.

Amidst concern over President Trump’s emasculation of the US Environmental Protection Agency, and cuts to the USA’s climate research, other ground-breaking areas of environmental research are being ignored.

For well-over a decade, at a cost of $25 million, a US National Toxicology Program study has been assessing the links between the use of mobile phones and rare, though increasing forms of cancer….SNIP

Reykjavik Appeal on wireless technology in schools

    Abstract
We, the signers, are concerned about our children’s health and development in schools with
    wireless technology for teaching.
A vast amount of scientific studies have shown considerable medical risks with long-term exposure to Radiofrequency Radiation(RFR) from wireless devices and networks well below the recommended reference levels from the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection(ICNIRP).

We ask the authorities to take their responsibility for our children’s future health and wellbeing.

Monash University study shows how close we like to keep our mobile phones (and Rodney Croft’s dismissive spin)

    Don’s comment:

The the Herald Sun article below we see how “spin” can be used to discount the findings of a study. Ignoring the IARC findings and a host of other research. Rodney Croft gets the final say in the article with the disingenuous statement: “there was no scientific evidence showing a link between mobile phone use and cancers”.
